A.J. Young, 74, of Pocahon-tas, Ark. died May 16, 2005, at his residence. He was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Noble, Ark. He was the son of Arthur Young and Flora Rice Young. He worked many years in jobs dealing with timber. He attended the Shekinah Tabernacle near Wirth.
Survivors are three sons -- Tim Young and Jeff Young, both of Elkton, Ky., and Stephen Young of Drakesboro, Ky.; six daughters -- Joetta Sims of Collinsville, Okla., Janet Wade of Cherokee Village, Jane Lester of Elkton, Ky., Mary Ivey of Jonesboro, Ruth Lindsey of Pocahontas and Rebecca Robinson of Walnut Ridge; his stepmother, Ula Belle Young of Bald Knob; eight brothers -- Harold Young of Pocahontas, Charles Young of Henderson, Calvin Young of Ethyl, La., Jerry Young of Ebrow, Fla., Ford Young of Russell, Feran Young of Panama City, Fla., Melton Young of Russell, and Noland Young of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters -- Eva Gentry of Rockford, Ill., Janise Schulist and Sharon Brown both of Bald Knob; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister, Beverly Young.
A graveside service was May 19, at Eagle's Rest Cemetery near Hardy with the Rev, Martin D. McComas officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland Arkansas.
