Singers compete at Harding

Thursday, March 17, 2005

On Feb. 25 and 26 four area students sang at Harding University in Searcy in the National Association of Teachers of Singing state competition.

Over 230 singers competed in 20 categories and only 54 made it to finals.

Two local students were semi-finalists. They are Mandy Sautner, daughter of Peter and Pat Sautner of Hardy, and Kate Eubanks, daughter of Stephen and Melissa Eubanks of Batesville.

Two students were finalists: Mitchell McClure, son of Harold and Kim Barnes of Hidden Valley, who placed 4th; and Mary Schneider, daughter of John and Diana Schneider of Hardy, who placed 2nd and 3rd in two separate categories.

The students also benefited from hearing many other great singers.

Melissa Eubanks accompanied them on the piano. All are students of Kim Sheets of Ash Flat.
