Clarence H. Dixon, 74, died Dec. 30, 2005, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Ill., with his family by his side.
He was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Granite City, Ill., son of the late Hubert and Grace Bulander Dixon.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
He worked for 21 years for Alton Box Board and after retiring, worked for MJD Cleaning Services for 5 years.
He and his wife then moved to Arkansas where they have been living for the past five years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: seven children, Clarence and Cathy Brown Dixon of Hartford, Ill., Kathy and Lee Lewis of Wood River, Ill.; Steven and Kim (Laster) Dixon of Irving, Ill.; Ricky Dixon of Marion, Ill.; Vicky and Steve Carter of Alton; Michael and Myla (Levi) Dixon of Bunker Hill, Ill., and Becky Dixon of Alton; 29 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Forehand of New Douglas, Ill., Nellie Forrest of Granite City, and Mary Hunter of Texas and one brother, Bill Dixon of Arkansas.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Dixon.
The funeral service was held at the Gent Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Palenske officiating.
Burial followed at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with military honors.
