Myra Mae White of Salem, daughter of the late Oscar Freeman Austin and Mildred Evelyn Sterling Austin, was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Olean, Pa. She died Jan. 28, 2006, at Fulton County Nursing Home in Salem at the age of 76.
She was united in marriage to Claude White in 1977 in Salem. She was a homemaker and many years ago worked in a canning factory. She was a member of Viola Baptist Church.
Survivors inclue her husband, Claude of the family home; a daughter, Betty Joseph and husband Christopher of Acworth, Ga.; stepchildren, Ronnie White and wife Pat of Viola, Irene Huston and husband James of Viola; and Alene Taylor and husband Gary of Cottonwood, Ariz.; grandchildren, Nedra and Nancy Herrick; stepgrandchildren, Tracey Banasiak, Lisa Bonde, Anna Dewey, Debbie Olsen and Cindy Wells,; great-grandchildren, Michael and Savannah Shoop; 6 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, William Austin of Columbus, Ohio, Arthur Austin and Leroy Austin, both of Rochester, N.Y.
The funeral services were held Jan. 31 at the Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem. Burial followed in the Viola Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
