Carolyn Sue Barton, wife of Garland G. Barton and mother of Michael Taylor Barton was born Aug. 23, 1952, in Lawrence, Kan. and died Jan. 18, 2006, at the family home in Alton, Mo.
Barton spent the greatest part of her life helping others. She has served beside her husband helping six churches since their marriage. Evidence of the special commitment to the spiritual development of all, especially to youth of the churches, is seen by many committed Christian individuals and families in various communities.
She taught at Alton Elementary School for 28 years. She provided quality instruction and reached out to assist students with love.
She was a devoted Christian since childhood.
She was a member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church where she and Garland assisted Bro. Jason Roberts as associate pastor.
Survivors include her husband Garland; her son, Michael; her mother, Lanora; three grandsons, Gavin, Trenton and Xander; her sister, Teresa; and two brothers, Kenny and Keith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Mack Sanders; and her son, Matthew Lee Barton.
The funeral service was held Jan. 21 at Victory Free Will Baptist Church in Alton. Interment followed in the Cave Springs Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton.
Pallbearers were Mike McElmurry, Brad Vest, John Christopher, Derek Sanders, Bill Church and Kevin Barton.
Honorary pallbearers were Al Kaste, Eddie Kimes, Gary Hensley, Jeffrey Crews, Rich Wallace, Jobe Steele and Keith Combs.
