The world famous Platters will again perform in the John E. Miller Auditorium at Ozarka College on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Ozarka College Foundation to fund scholarship opportunities.
Chair of the Ozarka Foundation special events committee, Son Lamb, is once again organizing this event. Earlier this year, Lamb brought the Platters to Melbourne where they performed to a sold-out crowd. More recently, Lamb arranged for country music sensation Little Big Town to perform their first concert in Arkansas. This concert was the largest event for the Foundation to date and was a huge success.
"The world famous Platters music is timeless, and we expect the audience to be very satisfied with the show. We want everyone to come out and support the college and enjoy the entertainment," Lamb said.
The Platters are best known for great hits such as "The Great Pretender," "Only You," and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." In 1990, the Platters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in recognition as one of the top vocal groups of the 1950s.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. Dec. 12. All seating will be reserved for this performance. Tickets are $15 and $20. Tickets can be purchased at Ozarka College in Ash Flat, Melbourne, or Mountain View; or from Ozarka Foundation Board members.
