MYRTLE -- At the Feb. 14 school board meeting Couch High School Principal Russell Deckard informed school board members that Missouri State University had books to give the school. The books, offered to the school at no charge were regular library books for the elementary and high school libraries.
He said a representative from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has requested they send an upper level elementary teacher to sit in on a statewide Reading First meeting.
Deckard said job shadowing at the school has been rescheduled to Feb. 27 due to the school not being in session the day it was originally scheduled because of a storm that knocked out electricity at the school.
He told the board the third quarter at the school will end Feb. 29 and that parent/teacher conferences will be held at the school March 7, from 1-6 p.m.
Superintendent Tom Bull informed school board members that he is seeking a bid for door replacement and repair in the new elementary gym building. He said the flue in the agri building had been replaced and is currently in use.
Bull said the school will receive a Distinction of Performance Award March 31 in Rolla. The school is receiving the award because students scored well on state tests. He invited all board members to attend the awards ceremony.
The board offered Randall Eagleman employment for the 2008-09 school year. The board voted to table the offer to offer Deckard the high school principal position for the upcoming school year to give him the opportunity to decide if he is interested in the position.
