Claudie Clovis Houston died Feb. 14, 2006, in Mountain Home, Ark., at the age of 88.
He was born Nov. 2, 1917, in Baldwin, Miss., son of the late Lamar and Sindie Johnson Houston.
He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Banks Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Roxie of the home in Mammoth Spring; seven children, Carolyn Sanders of Mountain Home, Joe Houston and wife, Renae, of Steele, Mo., Vernon Houston of Harrisburg, Ark., Diane Coffey and husband, Russ, of Abilene, Texas, David Houston of Lompoc, Calif., Anthony Houston of Lompoc, Calif., and Sondra Artos and husband, David, of Mountain Home; eight grandchildren, Marian, Brian, Michael, James, Nicholas, Jennifer, Regan and Amber; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Bo; five step-grandchildren; one brother, J.T. Houston of Visalia, Calif.; two sisters, Evy Raper of Visalia, and Neota Ring of Osceola, Ark.; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Edward Houston; one daughter, Sylvia Maxine Houston; one brother, Luther Houston; and two sisters, Mary James and Martha Davis.
The funeral services were held Feb. 21 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. Burial followed in the Perry Cemetery in Sharp County, with Bro. Andy Latham and Bro. Floyd Rikard officiating. Arrange-ments were under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
Pallbearers were Michael Coffey, James Houston, Billy Downs, Brian Sanders, David Artos and Russ Coffey.
Honorary pallbearers were Nicholas Houston, Eric Westbrook, Will Rogers and Billy Gann.
