VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers with the Oregon County Food Pantry helped the health department fill Christmas baskets for the needy last week in Thayer. Health Department official Terri Wrenfrow said all the food collected was donated by schools, churches, organizations and others in the area. The pantry hands out commodities every month, the third Thursday of each month. Christmas baskets were also handed out by the health department and volunteers the same day at Alton. Wrenfrow said the health department thanks Kester Denman for the use of his building during the holiday season to help those less fortunate. She said anyone in need of food or help this holiday season should contact a local pastor or call the health department at 264-3114 at Thayer or 778-7450 at Alton. Photo/Sisk Lawrence
