Noel Southard, 90, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, N.M., died Nov. 13, 2005, in Alamogordo.
He was born Feb. 5 1915, in Wheeling, Ark., to Green Franklin and Mollie Elizabeth Wiley Southard.
During world War II he served in the Army Air Corps.
He was a member of the Cuba Avenue Church of Christ.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Wild Turkey Federation and the National Rifle Association. He also served on the board of directors of the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge.
Survivors include sons, Charlie Southard of Santa Fe, and David Southard and his wife, Donna, of Albuquerque; a daughter, Wanda Lutz and her husband, Richard, of Collinsville, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Renee Walker and her husband, Wayne, of Alamogordo; 11 grandchildren 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Addie Southard, in 1989; two brothers and one sister.
The funeral service was held at the Cuba Avenue Church of Christ with Al Maxey officiating.
Interment followed in Monte Vista Cemetery with the funeral arrangements under the direction of the Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home of Alamogordo.
Pallbearers were Clark Vaughn, Dusty Vaughn, Dave Newell, David Joyner, Joe Haley, and Howard Hallmark.
