Ray Holloway was born the son of Lionel Holloway and Mattie Dowdy Holloway on Oct. 29, 1915, in Saddle, Ark. He died Dec. 16, 2007, in Mountain Home, Ark., at the age of 92.
He was united in marriage to Mildred O. Smith on Jan. 31, 1942, in West Plains, Mo.
He was later united in marriage at Hernado, Miss., on June 27, 1956, to Grace Batman Roberts who preceded him in death on July 6, 1990.
Mr. Holloway was a prominent businessman in the Thayer area for many years. He was co-owner of Ray-Noble Package Store and also owned other businesses in this area.
He was a farmer, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed nature and in his earlier years he liked to hunt and fish.
Ray will be remembered for his kindness and his willingness to help others. He will truly be missed by his family, his many friends and the community in which he lived.
He was a veteran of the United States?Navy, proudly serving his country during World War II.
He is survived by: one daughter, Rhonda Grunwald and husband, Fred of Prairie Village, Kan.; one step-daughter, Dortha Ewing of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jillian Rae Le of Lenexa, Kan., Kevin Grunwald of Lawrence, Kan., Michael O'Bleness of California and Kay Matras of Minneapolis, Minn.; six great-grandchildren, Lucas Le, James Le, Abraham Le, Magnolia Mildred Le, Wesley Matras and Spencer O'Bleness; one brother, Keith Holloway of Mountain View, Mo.; special friend and caregiver, Joan Baker; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Dec. 20 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. Mo.
Burial followed in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
