Virginia Sue Newberry, of Viola, Ark., daughter of the late Forest Beaver and Lillie McElmurry Beaver, was born Oct. 27, 1920, in Viola. She died Dec. 20, 2007, in Viola, Ark., at the age of 87.
She was united in marriage to Fred Newberry on Jan. 22, 1938, in West Plains, Mo. To this union three children were born.
She was a cook in the Viola School cafeteria for many years and also worked at Marbax Shirt Company in Gassville and Tri-County Shirt Factory in Salem. She was a member of the Viola Baptist Church.
She is survived by: her children, Barbara Foster and husband Gail of Kansas City, Kan., Don Newberry and wife Sue of Viola and Charles Newberry and wife Aleta of Viola; seven grandchildren, Dennis Foster, Terry Worsham, Dawnesa Roper, Cris Newberry, DeAnna Newberry, Tammy Newberry and Cody Newberry; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; two brothers, Paul and Gene Beaver; and her father and mother.'
Funeral services were Dec. 22 at the Viola Baptist Church with burial following in the Viola Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
