Vandalism at Hill's Auto Sales in Salem has prompted the owners of the business to offer a reward.
"We are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who vandalized property at our business over the weekend," said Brandon Hill.
Hill's Auto Sales is located at 424 Highway 62 East and is owned and operated by Bill Hill and his son, Brandon Hill.
The younger Hill said all the vehicles on the lot were in good condition when he left work around 5 p.m. Dec. 9. He said he and others were at the business the following day, on Saturday, but did not check every vehicle.
"We did not discover the vandalism until Monday morning when we came to work," he said.
Three vehicles on the car lot received some type of gunshot through the windshields. Vehicles damaged are: a 2000 Denali, a 2003 Jeep Cherokee, and a 2001 Chevy S-10 pickup. The side of the building above a door leading into the business also received a bullet.
Hill said no bullets were found in the vehicles or around them or the building. He said the windshields in the three vehicles will have to be replaced. "We received an estimate of $300 each to have the windshields repaired," he said.
Hill said this is not the first time the business has been vandalized but it is the first time any vehicles on the car lot have been shot.
