Cherokee Village Recycling has released a list of items that can be accepted.
Items that can be recycled include: newsprint -- magazines, catalogs, telephone books, office paper and envelopes; plastics -- Look for the triangle at the bottom. Only #1 and #2 can be recycled; rinse well, no cooking oil or car oil containers; aluminum -- cans only. no aluminum foil or pans; cardboard -- flatten and remove all foam, plastic, or paper packing. no waxed boxes will be accepted; steel cans -- cans must be rinsed and clean.
Winter Recycling hours, Oct. through April, are 9 a.m.-noon.
The following items are not recyclable -- glass and styrofoam. Motor oil and wet cell batteries can be taken to Village Service Station; rechargeable dry cell batteries, switches and thermostats containing mercury can be taken to Radio Shack; toner and ink cartridges can be taken to the Senior Center; tires can be dropped off at the Ash Flat Conoco; and the Mission of Hope or SACS accepts unwanted clothing and other household unwanted items in good condition.
"Please do not leave anything if the truck and volunteers are not there, as this would be littering," a spokesman said.
