Charles Max Humphries, 64 of Glencoe, Ark., died March 1, 2008, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark. He was born in Glencoe, Ark., on Jan. 11, 1944, the son of the late George Thomas and Violet Olevia (Coggins) Humphries.

He worked as a farmer, stock contractor and was a real estate agent with Arkansas Foothills Realty. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Salem, Ark.

He was united in marriage to Arlene Faye Harris on Aug. 6, 1966, at Oxford, Ark.

He is survived by: his wife, Arlene Humphries of Glencoe; a daughter, Misti Carter (Ross) of Glencoe; two sons, Heath Humphries (Kelli) of Gainesville, Mo., and Lance Humphries (Mandy) of Ash Flat; one brother, Larry Humphries (Barbara) of Glencoe; and seven grandchildren, Quincy Elizabeth Humphries, John Rhett Carter, Kylee Jo Humphries, Tressie Lea Carter, Kelsey Lane Humphries, Cooper Wayne Carter and Taci Leigh Humphries.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at the Salem United Methodist Church March 3 with Bro. Sam Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Humphries Cemetery at Glencoe with arrangements under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were Rayford Martin, Mike Nix, Scott Long, Link Humphries, Tyler Humphries and Ray Barker.

Honorary pallbearers were William Goodson, Paul Martin, Mike Martin, Stanley Hall, Bruce Hall, Donnie Bryant, Charles Butler, Deion Sanders, Ralph Montgomery, Russell McBride and Rusty Hyde.

Family requests that donations be made to the Humphries Cemetery.
