Loyd Farrell Phenix was born March 13, 1928, at Myrtle, Mo., the son of Robert Phenix and Gradie Wetzel Phenix. He died Feb. 22, 2008, at his home in Thayer, Mo., at the age of 79.
He was united in marriage Nov. 9, 1949, at Walnut Ridge, Ark., to Wanda Lee Honnoll.
He worked for Franz Farms for 15 years, Blackburn Chevrolet for 10 years and retired in 1991 after 15 years as custodian of the Thayer Elementary School.
He was saved and baptized into the State Line Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Wanda Phenix of the home in Thayer; three sons, Michael Phenix of West Plains, Mo., Jack Phenix of Thayer and Robert Phenix of Thayer; two daughters, Freddie Bruce and husband, Charles of Myrtle, and LaTeresa Cooper and husband, Eddie of Thayer; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Violet Honeycutt of Ash Flat, Ark., Ethel Copus of Hardy, Ark, Goldie Mitts of Batesville, Ark., Sylvia Pitts of Monette, Ark., Charlene Howard of Black Rock, Ark., and Meda Conley of Thayer; one sister-in-law, Jean Phenix of Batesville; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Bob and Gradie Phenix; one brother, Charles Phenix; and three sisters, Edna Waldo and infant twins, Leda Marie and Linda Louise Phenix.
Funeral services were held Feb. 25 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer with Rev. Wayne Hurst officiating. Burial followed in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
