James F. Garner, 65, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Sept. 10, 2005, at his residence.
Garner was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Hardy, Ark., the son of Robert Austin Garner and Clara Haskins Garner.
He was united in marriage to Linda C. Aldridge on March 26, 1989, in Hardy.
He was a member of a Christian motorcycle association for many years, helping to raise money for disadvantaged children.
He attended the Church of God in Ash Flat.
Survivors include his wife, Linda C. Garner of the home; three sons -- Jimmy Garner Jr., Raven Garner and Scott Garner, all of Illinois; one daughter, Tammy Newsom of Malvern; one stepdaughter, Deborah Baldridge of Cherokee Village; one stepson, Timothy Reeves of St. Louis, Mo.; four brothers -- W.R. Garner of Hardy, Gene Garner of Hardy, Leon Garner of Orlando, Fla., and David Garner of Elizabeth; one sister, Willa Mae Hogan of Highland; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers -- Beverly Garner and Troy Garner.
The funeral service was held Sept. 13 at Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland with Gene Garner, Leon Garner, Tommy Garner and Billy Hattenhauer officiating.
Burial followed in the Highland Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
Pallbearers were Ricky Garner, Dustin Baldridge, Sean Baldridge, Gary Whisnant, David England and Ollis Filds.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Legacy Hospice in Salem, or to the American Cancer Society.
