Dorothy Vernell Willinghm. 74, of Viola, Ark., daughter of the late Jesse James and Hattie Mae Wooden Hughes, was born March 21, 1931, in Cleburne, Texas. She died Sept. 6 2005, at Mountain Home, Ark.
She was united in marriage to Duran Gene Willingham on Aug. 1, 1966. She spent her working years as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a special friend, Don Radford of Viola; two sons -- Duran Gene Willingham Jr. and wife, Cara, of Viola and Newton Willingham and friend, Shannon Brown, of Viola; four daughters -- Etta Jean Hurdle and friend, Donald Hutchinson of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., Patsy Rutherford and huband, John of Jonesboro, Linda Sue O'Dell of Monahans, Texas, and Dana Jackson of Atwater, Calif.; three sisters -- Helen Tatum, Edna Hughes and Jewell Hughes all of Cleburne, Texas; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duran Gene Willingham Sr.; her parents; a daughter, Debra Dykes and six brothers and sisters.
The funeral service was held Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Flora Cemetery at Viola with the Rev. Robert Duhon officiating.
Burial followed in the Flora Cemetery near Viola with arrangements under the directio of the Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
