Dorothy Rhea Carter, 79, daughter of the late John Champion and Fannie May McVey Moss, was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Oxford, Ark. She died March 25, 2005, at Mountain Home, Ark.
She married Austin Lee Carter May 21, 1945, at Salem, Ark. and to this union two sons were born.
She spent her working years as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and as a secretary for the Arkansas Forestry Commission. She was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include her son, Charles Bradley Carter and wife, Donna, of Rowlett, Texas, a granddaughter, Tamara Carroll and husband, Keith, of San Antonio, Texas, four sisters -- Mary Montien Coats of Hot Springs, Ark., Ruby Okla Jackson of Texarkana, Texas, Rilda May Kelso of Lebanon, Mo. and Ruth Lee Vickers of Pinellas Park, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, James Leon Carter, two brothers, James Champion Moss and Darold Wayne Moss and one sister, Helen Parthena Coates.
A graveside service was March 28 at the Flint Springs Cemetery with Donnie Lance officiating with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem. Memorials preferred to the Flint Springs Cemetery fund.
