Couch school board meets

Thursday, January 19, 2006

COUCH SCHOOL -- During the Jan. 10 Couch School Board meeting, the board asked Superintendent Rolla Fraley to negotiate with suppliers on the prices of Freightliner and Bluebird school buses.

High School Principal Tom Bull discussed the need for safety mats in the school gym. The board instructed him to seek bids for the mats for both ends of the gym and to also seek quotes on both moveable and permanent mats.

A school patron asked the board if President's Day would be used as a make-up day. The superintendent said school will not to be in session on that day. President's Day is Feb. 20.

Fraley informed the board of some of the improvements that may be in the works for the pre-school building at the school. He discussed problems with a compressor on one of the school heating units and anticipated costs associated with the repair of the unit.

Fraley told the board that he is monitoring electricity costs at the school in relation to the new lighting project.

During executive session, the school board voted to add Irene Carroll to the substitute teacher list at the school and also as a substitute bus driver at the school.

The next Couch School Board meeting will be Feb. 14.
