Leroy Ivey, 68, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., was born on the family farm in rural Mammoth Spring on April 12, 1937, the son of the late Earl Ivey and Esther Faye Earls Ivey. He departed this life very near his birthplace on July 26, 2005.
He was united in marriage on May 21, 1960, to Meda Phenix. To this union three children were born, Donna Irene, Ricky Lee and Kathy Lynn.
He attended school at Big Creek School and transferred to Mammoth Spring School where he graduated. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served two years. He was a member and trustee of First Church of God where he faithfully attended and supported his church. He also served as trustee for Field Creek Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters -- Donna Ivey and Kathy Elliott and husband, Joey of Mammoth Spring; two granddaughters -- Amada Lee and Amber Lynn Elliott of Mammoth Spring; one sister, Laverne Wrenfrow; and one brother, Gene Ivey both of Mammoth Spring; four nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ricky Lee Ivey who preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 1981.
Leroy extended Christian love to all. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle and will be missed by his family and many friends.
The funeral was July 29 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Rev. J.J. Collins officiating. Burial was in the Field Creek Cemetery with arrangements by Carter Funeral Home Inc., of Thayer.
