Norman Thomas Freeman, 80, was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Newport, the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Freeman and Nettie Mae Tate Freeman.
He departed this life on July 28, 2005, at the Fulton County Nursing Center in Salem, Ark.
He was married to Laura Minnie Harlow on July 30, 1947, in Lawrence, Mich., and to this union six children were born.
He served in the U.S. States Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the Carpenter's Union in California and worked as a carpenter for 35 years in this community.
He and his family moved to the Camp community in 1961 and then joined the First Assembly of God Church in Salem. Norman was a member of the Camp Volunteer Firemen's Association and was on the board of the Camp Cemetery Association.
He enjoyed his life, his family and wonderful friends.
Survivors include his wife, Laura of the home; one son, Al Freeman and wife, Diane of Mountain Home; three daughters -- Norma Vincent and husband, Jerry of St. Louis, Velma Paxson of Mountain Home, and Anna Sutherland and husband, Daniel of Camp; nine grandchildren -- James A. Paxson, Eric Palmer, Thomas Sutherland, Russell Foreman, Andy Freeman, Ryan Vincent, Danielle Sutherland Foster, Laura Freeman Bahr, and Renee Vincent; twelve great-grandchildren -- Whitney Paxson, Hunter Paxson, Taylor Paxson, Olivea Sutherland, Osten Sutherland, Dominic Freeman, Hayden Bahr, Hunter Bahr, Kennedi Palmer, Lucas Foster, Jessika Foster, and James Foreman; one brother, Dean Freeman of College Place, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Laurel Onelious Freeman, one daughter, Donna Sue Freeman Foreman; one son-in-law, James R. Paxson, one great-granddaughter, Odrianna Sutherland; two brothers -- Edward Freeman and Homer Freeman; and four sisters -- Irene Bray, Lois Anderson, Goldie Bright and Rhoda Freeman.
The funeral service was held July 30 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. William Hughard officiating. Interment was in the Camp Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were James A. Paxson, Andy Freeman, Eric Palmer, Ryan Vincent, Thomas Sutherland, Paul Foster, Russell Foreman, and Greg Bahr.
Honorary pallbearers were Danielle Sutherland Foster, Laura Freeman Bahr, and Renee Vincent.
Memorials preferred to the Salem First Assembly of God Church or the American Cancer Society.
