Funeral services for Tommy Ray Martin, 56, of Moriarty, N. M., formerly of Thayer, were held Aug. 30, 2005 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Brother Bill Bales officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

He was born the son of Shirley Ray Martin and Juanita Viola Gaines Martin on Aug. 28, 1948, in Doniphan, MO and died Aug. 24, 2005, in Moriarty.

He was united in marriage July 8, 1967, in Wenatchee, Wash., to Elaine Waldron.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine of the home in Moriarty; three daughters, Julie Murphy and husband, A. G. of Doniphan, Mo., Sandra Martin of Kennett, Mo., and Shonda Martin of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; nine sons, Timothy Martin of Oklahoma City, Okla., Rusty Martin of Moriarty, Robert Martin and wife, Jessica of Doniphan, David Martin of Poplar Bluff, Edward Martin and wife Patricia of Thayer, Marcus Martin of Thayer, Michael Martin of Ellington, Mo., Noah Martin of Doniphan and Christopher Martin of Kennett; six grandchildren, Jesse Ray Murphy, A.C. Murphy, Merinda Murphy, Edward Martin Jr., Shane Martin and Brian Martin; his parents Ray and Juanita Martin of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Larry Martin and wife Diane of Porterville, Calif., Jerry Martin of Fairdealing, Mo., and Garry Martin and wife Patricia of Oklahoma City; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Wilbanks.

Martin worked in retail food sales and was former owner and operator of Martin Salvage Grocery in Thayer.

Burial followed in Thayer Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.
