Ronald Wayne Timmons, 58, of Hardy, formerly of Rockford, Ill., and Portage, Wis., died Aug. 28, 2005, at his home. He was born Feb. 1, 1947, in Rockford, the son of Joel and Betty Peck Timmons. He formerly was employed as a welder with Artzen Fabricator of Rockford and was a member of the American Legion Post 335 of Hardy.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Bangs Timmons of the home; his mother; four sons -- Joel Timmons of South Carolina, John Timmons of Rockford, Ron Timmons of New Orleans, La., and Ron Robbery of Rockford; one daughter, Valerie Bevens of North Dakota; six step-sons -- Donald Powell and George Powell both of Dell, Wis., Kellie Powell of Adams County Wis., Alfred Powell and Harlan Crawford and James Crawford, of Lexington, Ky.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild; two sisters -- Sharon Peterson of Williford and Gail Backes of Wisconsin; and one brother, Pastor James Timmons of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The funeral was held Aug. 30 at Higginbotham Chapel in Hardy with Pastor James Timmons officiating. Burial followed at the Hardy Cemetery in Hardy.
Pallbearers were Royal Backes, Ron Timmons, Scott Donner, Scott Peterson, Ricky Peterson, Joel Timmons and John Timmons.
