Bill Westmoreland, 89, of Sidney died Aug. 23, 2005 at White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born Dec. 23, 1915, at Sidney. He was the son of Elmer and Fannie (Arnn) Westmoreland.
He was a member of Sidney Baptist Church where he was senior deacon for 52 years, a farmer, always compassionate and helpful to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lillian (Sipe) Westmoreland; one daughter, and son-in-law, Carolyn and Tommy Green of Sidney; two sons and daughters-in-law, Arch and Linda Westmoreland of Sidney, and Lynn and Cindy Westmoreland of Cave City; six grandsons, Steven Green, Randy Green, Dusty Westmoreland and Russell Westmoreland, all of Sidney, Dustin Joe Westmoreland and Seth Westmoreland, both of Cave City; two granddaughters, Cindy (Green) Garrison of Thayer, Mo., and Chrysti (Westmoreland) Turner of Sidney; 14 great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Johnny Van Westmoreland Battles of Sidney; a sister, Maxine Spooner of Albuquerque, N. M.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Aug. 25 at Sidney Baptist Church with Pastor Alvin Wiles officiating. Burial followed in the Mount Carmel Cemetery located at Sidney with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Wendell Turner and Brent Garrison.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Sidney Baptist Church Jack Helm, Junior Runsick, Dean Smith, Kenneth Brown, Roy Mynatt, Delmus Caraway and Hubert Rush.
