Yester-Daze, Fall Festival offer weekend family fun
Festivals abound in Oregon County during the fall and two popular ones will be held this weekend.
Yester-Daze will be held in downtown Myrtle Sept. 29. The theme for this year's festival is "Piecing Together the Past." Good food, booths, children's games, a quilt show and a parade are just a few of the many activities planed.
The Thayer Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual Fall Festival Sept. 29 in downtown Thayer. The festival will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature food, games and live entertainment. An event that always draws a crowd is the crowning of the Fall Festival King and Queen at 8 p.m.
A new feature this year will be the K-Kountry 95, Chamber sponsored Fall Festival Idol. Winners will receive cash prizes.
Two more festivities are the Black Gold Walnut Festival in Alton and Thayer's traditional Homecoming weekend Oct. 5-6. Organizers are gearing up to welcome the thousands who make these activities a huge success each year.
