Coffman wins school board seat

Area voters went to the polls to elect new school board members Sept. 21.

There was one contested race among Fulton County schools in the Salem School District.

Karen Coffman defeated Keith Grey for the vacant position.

Coffman received 67.5 percent (216), and Grey received 32.5 percent (104) of the 320 votes cast.

In Izard County, Beth Duboise and Shad McClain will face each other in a run-off Oct. 9 for the school board position in the Calico Rock School District.

Incumbent Steven Lively, who received 30 percent (91) of the 299 total votes, was beat out of the race.

Beth Duboise received 31 percent (94) of the votes, and Shad McClain received 38 percent (114).
