Mary Pauline Roper, 77, of Ash Flat, Ark., died Nov. 22, 2005, at the Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark. She was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Leachville, Ark., the daughter of the late Rye Exter Lyerly and Nannie Priscilla Cromwell Lyerly.
She was married to Claude David Roper on March 14, 1951, in Paragould, Ark. After marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Roper moved to Michigan where she managed a dress shop for many years. Roper was very active in her church in Michigan and helped to start several churches and missionary programs. She loved participating in any church activity that involved working with the young girls. She moved back to Arkansas from Michigan in 1987 with her husband and had many wonderful years of retirement. She was a member of the Cherokee Village First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Claude David Roper of Ash Flat; two daughters, Regina Waldee of San Jose, Calif.; and Rebecca Clute of Keri Keri, New Zealand; and two sisters, Goldie Chorney of Winter Haven, Fla., and E.V. Fouts of Memphis, Tenn.; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held Nov. 26 at Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel with Dr. Larry White officiating. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Highland. Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland, Ark.
