Frank Kappel, 83, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died Oct. 1, 2005, at the North Arkansas Life Care Center in Horseshoe Bend. He was born Oct. 30, 1921, in Austria, the son of Adolf and Stefanie Kappel. He was married to Mame McSpadden Feb. 12, 1983, in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and served in World War II. During his working years he was an instructor for Bell Telephone Co. in Illinois. He was past president of the Horseshoe Loft Club, former president of Horseshoe Bend Golf Association, former member of Lions Club and former member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Mayme of Horseshoe Bend; two sons, Dean Kappel of Chesterfield, Mo., and Neal Kappel of Streator, Ill., two stepsons, Bud Overton of Delaware, Ohio and Jim Overton of Lizton, Ind.; one daughter, Donna Miller of Phoenix, Ariz., and stepdaughter, Mildred Snider of Greenwood, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives.
He was prceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
The funeral was held Oct. 5 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Horseshoe Bend with Tom Prentice officiating. Burial followed at the Evening Shadows Memorial Park Cemetery in Horseshoe Bend.
Pallbearers were Dean Kappel, Neal Kappel, Paul Kappel, Curt House, Jim Overton and Marvin Snider.
In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be given to the American Heart Association. Arrangements were under the direction Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
