Leamond Thurston DeWitt, of Viola, son of the late Henry A. and Oma Sanders DeWitt, was born Nov. 28, 1928, at Rodney, Ark. He died Nov. 25, 2005, at his home in Viola at the age of 76 years.
He was married to Pauline Sexton on July 19, 1952, at Viola and to this union seven children were born. He spent his life as a laborer and raising his family. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline of the family home; sons, William and Roger DeWitt of Viola and Tilden DeWitt of Forrest City; daughters, Willorene Dewitt and Brenda Christy of Portland, Ore., Theresa Hart of Viola and Margaret Kapelski of Midway; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie and Jennifer Kelley, Andi Kauffman, Justin Zielienski, Jaime Sofich, Chris Laws, Erin Tarno, Daniel Hart, Shauna Knott, T.J. DeWitt and Amandee Dow; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frankie DeWitt of Raytown, and L.W. Dewitt of Adrian, Mo.; six sisters, Cloris Newman of Salem, Dolly Coonce of Raytown, Henrietta Kirn of Lees Summit, Ethelee Fann of Yucca Valley, Calif., Deloris Tate of Brock-well and Judy Dillinger of Viola.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Cleates Kruse and his father and mother.
The service was Nov. 28 at Cox-Blevins Chapel with burial in Bexar Cemetery. Arrange-ments were by Cox-Blevins Funeral Home.
