James Robert (Jack) Clifft Jr., son of the late James Robert Clifft, Sr. and Arkie Evelyn Welch Clifft, was born May 28, 1921, in Hickory Flat, Ark. He died Nov. 18, 2005, at Batesville at the age of 84 years. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Jackson on Nov. 9, 1940, in Ash Flat and to this union a daughter was born.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. During his working years, he operated a dairy farm. He worked for the Arkansas Forestry Service from 1971 until his retirement. Jack was a charter member of Myron Baptist Church. He was active in church affairs for 45 years.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Kathleen Jackson Clifft of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Carol and Charles Cooper of Myron; one granddaughter, Kathy Willenbrink and her husband, Mark, of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandsons, Garry Cooper and his wife, Juanita, of Batesville and Lyndal Cooper and his wife, Jessica of Myron; 11 great-grandsons; seven great-granddaughters and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Dick Mayhan, Ed Mayhan, Robert Earl Clifft and John Clifft; and three sisters, Edna Roberts, Annie Moody and Tressie Fowler.
The funeral service was held Nov. 20 at Myron Baptist Church with Michael Stinnett officiating. Burial was in the Godwin Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Boyd Jackson, Jimmy Johnson, Leonard Johnson, Edward Bates, Don Fowler and Jimmy Fowler.
