Bobby Gene Beaver, of Viola, son of the late Farest and Lillie Mae McElmurry Beaver, was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Viola, Ark. He died Nov. 18, 2005, at Viola at the age of 79 years.
Gene was married to Fern Hand on Jan. 14, 1948, at Mountain Home, Ark. He spent his working years as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, carpenter, farmer and service station operator. He was a member of Viola First Baptist Church and served his country in the United Sates Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Fern Beaver of Viola; two sons, Mike Beaver of Viola and Tim Beaver also of Viola; two daughters, Kathy Brown and husband, Roger, of West Plains, and Debbie West and husband, Arlan, of Lees Summitt, Mo.; a sister, Virginia Sue Newberry of Viola; five grandchildren, Adam West, Joshua West, Michelle Corbitt, Lisa Gurry, and Shawn Brown; three great-grandchildren; Ethan Corbitt, Lauren Gurry and Jacob Gurry and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Paul Beaver and a niece Paula Jo Beaver.
The funeral service was held Nov. 20 at Viola First Baptist Church with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Burial was in the Viola Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were Roger Brown, Joshua West, Adam West, Arlan West, Don Newberry and Ronnie Richmond.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Sherman, Frank Oliver, Robert Wray, Jewell Batterton, Herman Wilson, Coy Stone, Gary Devore and Jim Batterton.
Memorials preferred to American Heart Association.
