Brittons celebrate 60 years of marriage

Dale and Betty Britton of Cherokee village will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Nov. 25. They will be honored with a special dinner party by their four children, Brian Britton, Brenda Pease and Beth Koester of Centralia, Ill., and Barbara Jones of Cherokee Village, and their spouses; their five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and Betty's sister, Thelma Kile of Cherokee Village.

Dale Britton and Betty Smith were married Nov. 25, 1945, in Paris, Ill. They owned and operated the McCoy Shoe Store in Centralia, Ill., before retiring to the Village in 1986. They are members of the First United Methodist Church of Cherokee Village. Dale is a past president of the Cherokee Village Kiwanis Club and Betty is an avid golfer with the Nine Hole Ladies Golf Association and this year's champion in her flight.
