Novis Lucille Vanderburg Fernimen, bank teller for the Bank of Thayer for 25 years, died Nov. 6, 2005, at West Vue Home, Inc, in West Plains at the age of 93 years.

Fernimen was born May 17, 1912, in Cotton Plant, Miss., to John and Mary (Barkley) Pernell.

She was married in DeSoto, Miss., on Dec. 1, 1935, to Howard Vanderburg, who preceded here in death on Dec. 3, 1970.

She united in marriage in Paragould, Ark., Sept. 4, 1976, to Lehman Fernimen.

She was precede in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Vanderburg; two brothers, Reuben and Sam Pernell; and five half sisters.

She is survived by her son, Skipper Vanderburg of Thayer; three grandchildren, Ethan Vanderburg of Thayer, Tina Werry and husband, Marshall, of West Plains and Lindsey Geurnsey and husband, Matt, of West Plains; six great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Thayer Church of Christ and also attended Curry Street Church of Christ.

Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery with Erman Croney officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. Thayer.

Active pallbearers included Matt Geurnsey, Ethan Vanderburg, Marshall Werry and Jim Cobb.

Honorary pallbearers were Skipper Vanderburg and Sage Werry.
