Williams, with the help of Guion Fire Chief Lynn Pittman, orchestrates a mock drill every year for ADEM and to give training to the local firefighters. Saturdays's drill presented a scenario in which local firefighters were threatened with a sodium hydroxide spill on the railroad tracks.
Both Williams and Pittman said the community is prepared for such an emergency and they thought the drill was an overall success.
Williams said, "Chemicals are transported across these tracks every day. We hope it doesn't ever happen but it could."
