Sammie Dee Thompson, 77, of Evening Shade, Ark., died Dec. 3, 2007, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark. He was born March 2, 1930, at Fort Gibson, Okla., the son of Sammuel D. and Bertha (Barnett)?Thompson.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired chemical engineer for Phillips Petroleum in Borger, Texas, and was a member of the Evening Shade United Methodist Church.
He is survived by: several cousins and a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Dec. 6, 2007, at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Don Nall and Bro. David Wesley officiating.
Graveside services with military honors were held Dec. 10 at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery located in Fort Gibson, Okla. Arrangements were under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Ark.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Batesville Area Civil War Round Table.
