Kittie Jean Mickle, 52, was born Nov. 15, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa, and died Dec. 8, 2007, in Mountain Home, Ark., at Hospice House of the Ozarks.

She lived and worked in Michigan and Texas as well as in Arkansas. She was an avid sports fan.

"Miss Kittie" was a highly respected and extremely dedicated life skills special education teacher of severely handicapped students in the Highland School District and worked the ticket booth at all high school football and basketball games. She earned her bachelor's degree from Arkansas State University in 1994 and became known throughout the state as "the guru" of preparing special education portfolios. "Miss Kittie" will be missed as a caring individual who loved "her kids" and her HHH "family" of friends.

She is survived by: her dad, Leroy Mickle of Ash Flat; sister, Rebekkah Tario (brother-in-law Mark); and brothers Larry and David all of Michigan.

Her mother, Barbara, preceded her in death.

Celebration services were held Dec. 11, in the John A. Cooper gymnasium at Highland High school with Tim Turner and Johnny Carter officiating. Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland was in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorials may be made to the HHS Life Skills Room and the Rebel Athletic program.
