Leland William Meskimen, 75, of Cave City, Ark., died Dec. 7, 2007, at Batesville.?He was born July 2, 1932, in Waukon, Iowa, the son of G.L. and Alice Meskimen. He married Yvonne Michel Tritsch on April 12, 1955, in Coin, Iowa.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War based in Italy and Germany. He was a retired truck driver having worked for Montgomery Ward and Yellow Freight. He was a member of the Independence County Master Gardeners and was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City.

He is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Yvonne Meskimen of the home; five sons, Tim Tritsch and his wife, Pam of Kalamazoo, Mich., Terry Tritsch and his wife Leslie of Pontotoc, Miss., Ted Tritsch of Earlham, Iowa, Mark Meski-men and his wife Pat of Charlotte, Kirk Meskimen and is wife Carol of Cave City; one daughter, Kristi Meskimen, of Batesville; one daughter-in-law, Donna Meskimen of Olive Branch, Miss.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Meski-men of Shellina Mo.; and a other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; an infant brother; and a son, Gregory L. Meskimen.

Funeral services were held Dec. 9 at the First Missionary Baptist Church located in Cave City with Bro. Ron Canard and Bro. Wayne Goodman officiating. Burial followed in the Mount View Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangement by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were his sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Foster, Gene White and Kirk Shaw.
