Students, teachers selected for Who's Who

Educational Communications Inc. (ECI), the premier publisher of honor and recognition publications in the academic and educational fields has announced honorees for each of its 2005-2006 editions. The honorees were published in the annual editions of Who's Who Among American High School Students, Who's Who Among American High School Students -- Sports Edition, The National Dean's List, The Chancellor's List and Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

The annual publications' purpose is to publicly recognize outstanding high school students, student-athletes, college students and teachers for their distinctive achievements and participation in extra-curricular and community activities. Past honorees have included students who grew-up to become successful politicians, Olympic athletes, military leaders, and even an "American Idol" runner-up.

Who's Who Among American High School Students and Who's Who Among American High School Students -- Sports Edition

More than 7,000 nominators selected the students included in the 40th Annual Edition of Who's Who Among American High School Students. Each year, public, private and parochial high schools, youth groups and service organizations are invited to nominate students who have achieved a "B" grade point average or better and who have demonstrated leadership in academics, athletics or extracurricular activities.

The honorees include: Jonnie Bellows -- Mammoth Spring High School; Bridget Brassfield -- Koshkonong High School; Hannah Brewer -- Couch High School; Nicole Cash -- Thayer High School -- Heather Coffell -- Thayer High School; Amanda Crase -- Thayer High School; Lucas England -- Koshkonong High School; Daniele Evans -- Couch High School; Seth Godwin -- Mammoth Spring High School; Layne Hawkins -- Thayer High School; Amber Huddleston -- Alton High School; Seth Lee -- Couch R1 School; Arby McGhee -- Couch High School; Sallie McFann -- Thayer High School; Sara Riley -- Thayer High School; Sadee Risher -- Couch High School; April Risner -- Thayer High School; Guy Ritchie -- Koshkonong High School; Micah Stevens -- Thayer High School; Jade Underwood -- Thayer High School; and Lorra Wicker -- Couch High School.

The honorees for high school students-sports include: Ciera Lindley -- Thayer High School; and Heather Morris -- Thayer High School.

The National Dean's List and The Chancellor's List

The 29th annual edition of the National Dean's List includes 153,676 college students from 2,873 schools. This past year's nominators included college chancellors, deans, professors, honor societies, leadership organizations, athletic directors, performing arts organizations and other education professionals. Together, they have nominated their students who have earned Dean's List honors or comparable academic and leadership achievement while they are college students. If a formal Dean's List does not exist at their institution, the nominators recommend select students with a B+ grade point average or who are in the upper 10 percent of their class.

The honorees for Dean's List from Ozarka College are Angela Carter, Cheryl Ekenes, Lesa Hammond, Kimberly Johnson, Meridith Luter, Jared Middleton and Wanda Thrasher.

Who's Who Among America's Teachers

The educators listed in the 10th annual edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers include the nation's best and most respected educators in the country. The 10th edition features 156,059 educators from 38,566 schools.

The honorees include: Mark Arnold -- Thayer High School; Deloris Bennet -- Mammoth Spring High School; Melody Caruthers -- Alton Elementary; Nikki Clark -- Thayer schools; Teresa Flynn -- Mammoth Spring Elementary; Lindy Greene -- Mammoth Spring High School; Rebecca Harrison -- Alton High School; Amy Janes -- Alton Elementary; Shelley Lawrence -- Thayer High School; Keith McFann -- Thayer High School; Kelly Stubblefield -- Alton Elementary; Shelley Underwood -- Thayer High School; Teresa Wallace -- Alton Elementary; Denice Warden -- Koshkonong High School.
