Barbara Sue Barnett, of Salem died Dec. 9, 2006.
She was born May 24, 1937 the daughter of the late Drew Thomas and Alpha (Cooper) Bridges in Viola, Ark.
She married Gaston Ray Barnett on July 15, 1956. They had one son, Jeffery Ray Barnett.
Barbara accepted Jesus at 9 years of age and throughout her life she gave testimony to that. She sang in church choirs and taught Sunday school. Her membership was in the Baptist Church in Viola. She was a VFW Auxiliary president five years for Post 9777 in Salem where she was a lifetime charter member. She was also a retired assistant controller of Bank of America, formerly Centerre Bank.
She is survived by her husband, Gaston, her son, Jeffery and his wife, Samantha; two brothers, and their wives, Junior and Lyndal Bridges and Bobby and Marge Bridges, both of West Plains; and two grandchildren, Dylan Ray Barnett and Vanessa Jade Barnett.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Clyde, Rufus, Coy Lee and J.C., and five sisters, Lola, Alma, Thelma, Anna Mae and Ruby Jean.
The funeral services were held Dec. 13 at the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home Chapel in Salem.
Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
