A Fulton County man Steven Carpenter, 26, has been charged with capital murder in what authorities say is the brutal murder of a young Stone County man.
Stone County resident, Kagen Futrell, 19, was reported missing March 27 after having not been seen since March 25-26. Investigators found Futrell's body in the late hours of March 28, a report said.
According to authorities Futrell had been beaten and stabbed to death near Parma Road in Stone County.
Two Stone County men, Michael Blackford, 19, and David Tidwell, 34, along with Carpenter, are in custody in connection with the slaying.
Also, believed have in connection with the killing is a 1993 white Ford minivan that was stolen the same night that Futrell went missing. It is believed that the van was stolen from Pine Woods Cabins in Mountain View.
16th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Don McSpadden has handed down capital murder charges on all three men. Other charges include aggravated robbery, theft of property and felony possession of a firearm.
Carpenter was taken into custody by the Stone County Sheriff's Department with the help of the Fulton County Sheriff's Department who located Carpenter.
There is no bond for capital murder.
