THAYER -- Cover Lumber Company in Thayer is once again teaming-up with Langley Animal Clinic, also in Thayer, to offer residents in Oregon County and Fulton County a reduced spaying clinic for dogs and cats.
According to Maureen Calvin, owner of Cover's, the regular cost for spaying a female dog under 50 pounds is $80. During the reduced spaying clinic, which is set for April 7 through May 5, the cost will be $30.
"The regular cost for spaying a dog over 50 pounds is $100. During the clinic, Dr. Langley will be spaying the larger dogs for $35," Calvin said.
Cats will be spayed for $25 during the clinic. The regular price for spaying a cat is $65.
Dr. Langley said appointments need to be made for the clinic and they need to be made early. He said the clinic fills up very fast and May 5 will be the last date for the reduced spaying. The clinic is not open on Saturday.
"Since the program was started in 1998, several thousand pets have been spayed," Calvin said. "We hope this will continue to help in the reduction of the unnecessary over-population of dogs and cats.
