Kermit Riggs, 80, of Poughkeepsie died Jan. 10, 2007, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born Sept. 4, 1926, at Manila, Ark., the son of Logan and Elizabeth (Dawson) Riggs.
He was a disabled U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Peaceful Harbor Pentecostal Church in Batesville.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Riggs of Poughkeepsie and Logan Riggs of Batesville; one daughter, Linda Derr, of Poughkeepsie; one brother, Darrell Riggs of Walnut Ridge; two sisters, Ruth Green of Manila and Betty Miller of Mississippi; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces; and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geneva Riggs; one daughter, Clara Louise Riggs; two brothers, Glenn Riggs and Eugene Riggs; one granddaughter, Carrie Riggs; and one great-granddaughter, Whitney Riggs.
The funeral services were held Jan. 13 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Rev. Walley Varner officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Michael Riggs, James Riggs, Jerry Riggs, Henry Farris, Will Beck and W.C. Coleman.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeffery Riggs, Jesse Beck, Aubrey Brown, Larry Coleman and W.C. Wilson.
