William Alvin James was born on Aug. 23, 1934 in Koshkonong, Mo., the son of the late Orville James and Edith Threlkeld James.
He died Jan. 8, 2007, in West Plains Mo., at the age of 72.
He was united in marriage in 1971 at Pocahontas, Ark., to Betty Watkins.
He was a machinist and was employed by Marathon Electric for several years.
He was a veteran having served in the United States Army and Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home in Koshkonong; three daughters, Judy Walle of Dumas, Texas, Edith James of Flint, Mich., and Louann Ham of Galena, Kan.; one son, Edward James; two step-sons, William Cochran and wife Debra of Koshkonong, and John Cochran and wife Cheryl of Thayer; 15 grandchildren; several nieces; nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jimmy James.
The funeral services were held Jan. 11 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Rev. John Holesapple officiating.
Burial followed in the Koshkonong Cemetery with arrangements being made under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
