AREA -- More charges were filed June 21 against a Mountain Grove man by a federal grand jury in Springfield related to mailing a bomb.
Donald W. Schamber is charged with mailing a pipe bomb with the intent to injure another person.
Schamber, 60, was charged in U.S. Federal Court in a four count indictment which replaces a federal criminal complaint filed against him in early June.
The indictment alleges Schamber mailed a pipe bomb on May 31 or June 1 to the West Plains Police Department. An affidavit filed in connection with the original complaint said a postal employee found the bomb in a mail collection box June 1 in West Plains.
The indictment also said Schamber is charged with a separate count of using explosive materials to commit the offense.
He is also charged with transporting explosive materials and with making a destructive device.
U.S. Attorney John F. Wood said the charges contained in the indictment are accusations and not evidence of guilt.
He said evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal grand jury and the jury will determine Schmabers innocence or guilt.
Schamber is in federal custody in Springfield.
