MAMMOTH SPRING -- The Mammoth Spring City Council met in regular session Jan. 7 with all council members present.
The council voted to pass two new ordinances, The first was ordinance 200801 which amended the 2007 budget.
The second ordinance was 200802 which adopted the 2008 budget.
The council voted to appoint Steve Russell to the HUD committee in the city. Russell was appointed to the committee after long-time HUD committee man Wendell Ragsdale moved out of the Mammoth Spring city limits.
Mayor Jean Pace commented that Ragsdale had been a very good committee member and had been very helpful.
The mayor opened the meeting to allow the councilmen the opportunity to voice some concerns they have about the city.
Completing the work on the ballfield south of town was a major concern.
The drainage problem in the city was also discussed by council members. No vote was made on the drainage issue although the mayor did suggest some new ditches might have to be constructed and city residents need to keep the ditches cleaned out.
The council also discussed the need for playground equipment for younger children at Mammoth Spring City Park. No decision was made about purchasing the equipment.
Property in the city limits that needs to be cleaned up was discussed.
The mayor said some property owners will be sent letters warning them their property might be condemned if it is not cleaned up. She said action on the issue will probably take place at the February council meeting.
