Billy Ray Hughes, 73, of Licking, Mo., died Jan. 7, 2008, at Houston, Mo. He was born May 6, 1934, at Princeton, Ky., the son of Archie Ray Hughes and Leda Naomi Riley Hughes.
He was a retired transit driver for Dunklin County Transit in Mauldin, Mo., and of the Southern Baptist faith.
Survivors include: his wife of 45 years, Frances K. (Tuggle) Hughes of the home; three sons, David Hughes and friend Carol Homer and Ronald Maniscalco all of St. Louis, Mo., Tony Hughes and friend Crystal Kelly of Malden, Mo.; three daughter, Peggy Lang and husband, Paul of St. Louis; Katherine Hughes and friend Lisa Mature and Trini Hughes, all of St. Louis; one sister, Rowena Mahle of Wickenburg, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Christina DeLaRosa and husband, Michael of Palmyra, Mo.; Ryan Lang and wife, Abby of St. Louis; Katherine Boch of St. Louis, and Danielle Hughes of St. Louis, Mo.; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and his step-father, Robert Lee Jones, who raised him after his father died.
Funeral services were held Jan. 10 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City, Ark., with Bro. Gene Lancaster officiating. Burial followed in the Parsley Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were David Hughes, Tony Hughes, Ron Maniscalco, Paul Lang, Ryan Lang, Bryan Tuggle, Richard Tuggle and Katherine Hughes.
