Ivie receives Lyon scholarship

Angela Ivie, a 2007 Salem High School graduate, has been accepted for admission to Lyon College and has been awarded a President's Scholarship.

Angela is the daughter of Dustin and Dolly Woods of Salem, and Dale and Lou Anne Ivie of Canverse, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Dale and Margaret Ivie and Mary Morris all of Melbourne.

Each year Lyon College awards scholarships to outstanding applicants who show special promise as productive members of the college community and valuable contributors in the field of their choice. Based upon a demonstrated record of academic success and leadership, Angela has been awarded a scholarship valued at $4,500 per year.

Founded in 1872, Lyon is the oldest independent college in Arkansas operating under its original charter. It has been classified as a baccalaureate (liberate arts) college by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and is ranked in the third tier of bachelor's colleges nationally by U.S. News and World Report.
