Christian Jensen Starr, age 20, of Warrenville, Ill., died March 7, 2007, in Hilo, Hawaii. He was stationed with the U.S. Coast Guard aboard U.S. Coast Guard Cutter KISKA. He was born April 26, 1986 in Glendale Heights, Ill.
Christian attended Bower Elementary, Warrenville, Hubble Middle School, Wheaton, Ill. and was a 2004 graduate of Wheaton-Warrenville South High School. He began active duty with the Coast Guard upon graduation, serving in Grand Haven, Mic., and most recently aboard the KISKA in Hilo, Hawaii as a Boatswain's Mate Third Class. He enjoyed music and played the piano.
He was an active member of Elevate, a Christian, evangelical church in Hilo and actively worked to help the homeless and needy in his area.
Christian is survived by: his parents, Chris and Karen (nee Trana) Starr of Warrenville; three siblings, Ian, Devin and Jennifer Starr; his maternal grandpareants, Gordon and Alma Trana of Cherokee Village; and his paternal grandparents, Harold and Kathryn Harris of Severna Park, Md.; aunts and uncles, Rev. Peter (Judy) Starr of St. Charles, Ill. and Steve (Carol) Trana of Monticello; and many cousins.
The funeral services were held on March 17 at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church in Geneva, Ill., with Rev. Peter Starr officiating.
Interment followed in the Warrenville Cemetery in Warrenville.
