Recently eight police officers completed an eight-hour Taser course and are now certified in the proper use of Taser deployment. Tim McComas of Sharp County was the instructor.
The class consisted of six Horseshoe Bend Police Department officers and one each from Fulton County and the Mammoth Spring Police Department. Horseshoe Bend officers are now required to carry the model M-26 Taser non-lethal weapon.
Merle Guy of Horseshoe Bend donated six safety vests. The vests will be used when officers are involved in night activities such as traffic control or when working accidents.
